If you looked at your earnings in the morning and noticed a drop in revenue, impressions or clicks later on in the day, it is likely caused by invalid activity. Google refunds all invalid activity costs to the advertiser. Until very recently (June 22 nd to be exact), Google did not display this information on the AdSense dashboard.

Actually historically there is a drop which starts AFTER the holidays and a good increase in November and December.
