If you are mounting an antenna on top of your house or out on a pole, then you need to ground it from lightening strikes. IF you don't, the lighting will strike the tallest thing around your house and the current will flow through the wire and cause damage to anything and everything in your house. But I don't know how to do this. It usually involves attaching a wire and to a stake that is driven deep into the ground. You need to ask an expert. BTW, lightening struck a power pole next to my house and it traveled into my house. The lightening damage required me to replace a heater/air condition controls, dish washer, TV, and garage door opener. But it didn't harm my computer equipment.
