The official browser extension stores and our website,, are the only safe places to get AdBlock. If you installed AdBlock (or an extension with a similar name to AdBlock) from anywhere else, it may contain adware or malware that can infect your computer.

It is true that today, the AdBlock extension is safe. We know that it will not steal your data, even though—as the other answers point out—it has the technical ability to do so. However, Chrome extensions are silently and automatically updated.

This plugin is safe. Basically, the adblock extension for chrome is safe. If there is a virus, Google Chrome will be removed directly. Yes, a trusted&verified fixed version is great - again, that's just treating adblock risks exactly as you should treat any other commonly installed software and it's upgrades. – Peteris Feb 28 '14 at 12:38

The fact that it’s not a free VPN probably means they won’t be harvesting your data and making money off it, but there are a few red flags that need to be resolved. For one, AdBlock had been purchased by a mystery buyer back in 2015, and they need to be transparent about who this is if we’re to trust them with more of our data.

That’s why, plugins like Adblock is quite helpful in blocking any popup or intrusive ads. but, it’s a lot different game with uBlock Origin. uBlock Origin will also blocks intrusive ads and let you block any section or an element from your site. But, it also has alot more to offer!!.

If you provide debugging information as part of troubleshooting an issue, AdBlock tells us your operating system version, which browser you're using and its version, how long it's been since you installed AdBlock, which version of AdBlock you're using, which options you have enabled, which filter lists you're subscribed to, any custom filters you've added, and (if you give us permission to collect it) which extensions you have installed and whether they're enabled.

So here’s the bottom line—we recommend you use an ad blocker (try the ad blocker in Avast Secure Browser), but conscientiously curate a smart whitelist that includes the sites you truly trust and value. That way, you’ll enjoy a cleaner browsing experience while continuing to support the sites you use regularly.

AdBlock can be trusted and it is already trusted by millions of users worldwide. Even though it has the ability and technology to follow your browsing and have access to your data, it won’t spy or steal your data .

Total Adblock are part of the problem! Their own adverts take up large space on things such as Youtube videos, they should be ashamed of themselves by enhancing what they are claiming to block in the first place so would never purchase their product!

Absolutely Free: AdBlock Plus is free to use for anyone who is already tired of being pestered by pop-up ads and banners polluting their screen, and it is not restricted to a single web browser. It is compatible with almost all of the widely used browsers to date, and even with some lesser known ones.
